In Orissa, our transmission line overlapped with the existing lines for an Industrial Urban Corridor which supplied power directly to vital industries in the region. The functioning of industries is contingent on a reliable power supply which is guaranteed via service level agreements, and this could not be affected at any cost. In some sections of the transmission line, severe ROW issues were also major causes for concern. In areas where the line passed through tribal regions, we also encountered resistance from the communities.
To overcome the challenges posed by our line overlapping the Industrial Urban Corridor, work was planned and carried out with extreme sensitivity to ensure minimum outages. To overcome ROW issues, our teams liaised simultaneously with various entities in the planning phase. We also worked together with the tribal communities to educate them on the benefits of the transmission line, and law enforcement where needed to ensure completion of the project.
This project is a part of the interstate transmission network providing additional evacuation of up to 5,000 MW of electricity from Odisha-based plants that are seeking better access to the power-consuming centers around the country.
The Project consists of 305 kms of 765 kV double circuit line and 51 kms of 400 kV double circuit line connecting Odisha & Chattisgarh.
