India’s Sterlite is expected to deliver its first power transmission project in Brazil almost two years earlier than scheduled by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel). Brazil is the only country outside India where the company has operations so far. Since its arrival in 2017, Sterlite has secured a portfolio of ten lots in greenfield projects, with investments estimated at R$7.8 billion. The first of its ten projects is a transmission line in Pernambuco, crossing seven cities, with 281 transmission towers and three substations. The works are 840 days ahead of Aneel’s deadline, and the expectation is that the transmission line be completed by April 20 or the end of June at the latest.
